Tawsilah Abshir

Ride-hailing built for Ajloun, not adapted to it.

Tawsilah Abshir — Ride-hailing built for Ajloun, not adapted to it.

A ride service for Ajloun and the surrounding governorates, with vetted drivers who know the area. Built for daily local trips as much as long runs to other governorates.

The large ride-hailing apps work in Amman and thin out fast outside it. In a governorate like Ajloun that leaves people back on calling a driver they know, which works until he is busy.

This is the local version: drivers vetted for the area, pricing that makes sense for both short in-town trips and inter-governorate runs, and an interface aimed at people who have never used a ride app before.

Problems worth solving

  1. Addresses that do not exist

Outside the capital, street addressing is unreliable and many destinations are known by landmark rather than by any address a geocoder recognises.

Pickup and destination are set by dropping a pin and optionally naming a landmark, so a rider never has to produce an address that does not exist.

What came of it

  • Published on Google Play, serving Ajloun and inter-governorate trips.
